Have been
craving for this Bingsu for long time since its grand opening and finally had a
chance to try it. My previous post was about food hunting at Chun Cheon Dak Galbi with
my friends. After dinner, we planned to have some desserts and yes, we decided
to try out the famous Bingsu from Caffè Bene.
Caffè Bene
is a newly opened Korean café (yes, you heard it, Korean restaurant again :D ) hitting to
the Penang island. It is located on Ground Floor of Gurney Paragon Mall,
Penang. It opened on 29th of August 2014.
Why this café is so famous
in Malaysia? Hmmm. I guess probably it is because of the Korean famous artists
Kwang Soo (one of the host of the popular Korean show, Running Man) came to
Malaysia for the grand opening of Caffè Bene at Sunway Pyramid mall, Kuala
Lumpur. Every time when I passed by this café, I saw lots of people queued
up for the orders or waiting to be served. And finally, it was my turn to try it. :)
Bingsu is one of the famous desserts at Korea. It is composed of ice shavings, with some toppings or ingredients such as fruits, almond flakes, cereal, hazelnuts, red beans and is topped with ice-cream, yogurt or whipped cream.
There are 2 types of Bingsu (RM12.80 for small, RM22.80 for large). Caffè Bene specializes in serving Bingsu, waffles, ice-cream, muffins and bread or toast. It is the best to have Bingsu shaved-ice during a hot day.

Once customers placed their orders, this so-called 'UFO' order machine will be given to customers. When the order is ready to be served, it has the 'beep beep' sound, customers then took this thing to the counter to redeem their desserts. A lot of desserts shop, restaurants or cafes in Malaysia are using this system as well as it is more efficient and systematic.
We’ve ordered their signature Green Tea Bingsu as I heard a lot of good comments that this is the best sellers of the cafe. Haha see, we are matcha lovers, that is no joke. J I love how they present the Green Tea Bingsu, it is green tea flavor shaved-ice, served together with almond flakes and hazelnuts, topped with whipped cream and green tea powder.
We also ordered the Cookies and Cream Bingsu. It tastes great as there is a Gelato flavored ice-cream under the whipped cream, served together with red beans and orea cookies. I prefer Green Tea Bingsu over Cookies and Cream Bingsu.
